Cayston® (Aztreonam Inhalant)

Approved by the FDA in 2010, Cayston® is an inhaled form of the antibiotic aztreonam that is used to treat chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in people seven years and older. Administered using the Altera® Nebulizer System, Cayston® is delivered directly to the lungs in the form of a breathing treatment.

IV Solutions is one of three U.S. pharmacies that provide the Cayston® (aztreonam for inhalation solution). IV Solutions has dispensed Cayston® prescriptions to Cystic Fibrosis patients since it was first approved by the FDA in 2010.

What is Cayston® (aztreonam inhalant) used to treat?

Cayston® is an inhaled medication for patients with CF that treats chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in the lungs. The p. aeruginosa bacteria causes lung infections and respiratory complications in patients with Cystic Fibrosis.

Cayston® is taken with a specialty device called the Altera® Nebulizer System. Both Cayston® and the Altera® Nebulizer System have limited distribution and cannot be filled by a local pharmacy. Cayston® Access Program

The Cayston® Access Program was created by Gilead Sciences, Inc., to help patients better navigate complex reimbursement issues.

If you cannot afford Cayston® or have insurance problems, then the Cayston® Access Program may be the solution for you. The Cayston® Access Program provides Cystic Fibrosis patients with financial assistance to reduce out-of-pocket costs of Cayston®.

Depending on your insurance coverage, the program has different types of reimbursement support.
